Public Policies

Effective Date: May 2026 | Indonesia Archipelago Digital Platform

The policies set out in this document govern the use of Indonesia Archipelago, a digital platform dedicated to presenting Indonesia in its full geographic, cultural, economic, and commercial depth to a global audience. They reflect the platform's commitment to operating with integrity, transparency, and accountability — across the communities it serves, the partners it engages, and the regulatory frameworks to which it is subject.

Readers are encouraged to review each section carefully. Where relevant, direct references to applicable legislation and authoritative government sources are provided.

I. Platform Usage Policy

Indonesia Archipelago is a public-facing digital platform open to travelers, researchers, investors, and any individual seeking substantive information about Indonesia's provinces, heritage, natural resources, trade landscape, and cultural identity.

Access to the platform carries with it certain responsibilities. Users engaging with platform content — whether for personal research, commercial exploration, or academic inquiry — are expected to do so in good faith and in accordance with the following principles.

All content published on this platform is the intellectual property of Indonesia Archipelago unless otherwise stated. Text, cartographic assets, visual media, and data representations may not be reproduced, redistributed, or repurposed in any form without prior written consent from the platform administrator. Where third-party materials are featured, appropriate attribution is maintained and licensing terms are observed.

The platform does not permit the use of its content to misrepresent Indonesia's people, culture, institutions, or natural environment. Any use that distorts, decontextualizes, or deliberately misframes published material — whether for political, commercial, or reputational purposes — falls outside the bounds of acceptable use.

Users who discover factual inaccuracies or outdated information are encouraged to report them through the platform's official contact channels. This platform is committed to accuracy as a professional standard, not merely as a compliance obligation.

II. B2B Partnership Policy

Indonesia Archipelago maintains a curated B2B Connection program designed to facilitate meaningful introductions between verified Indonesian enterprises and prospective international partners, investors, and institutional stakeholders.

Participation in the B2B Connection program is extended by invitation or formal application and is subject to a vetting process. The platform does not guarantee commercial outcomes, facilitate binding agreements, or act as a legal intermediary between any two parties. It functions as a structured introduction environment, and any subsequent negotiations, contracts, or transactions are the sole responsibility of the parties involved.

Partners listed under the B2B Connection directory represent entities that have been reviewed for relevance and legitimacy at the time of listing. Indonesia Archipelago reserves the right to remove or suspend any listing that no longer meets the platform's editorial or ethical standards, without prior notice.

All partnership activity conducted through or in connection with this platform is expected to comply with Indonesian commercial law, including applicable provisions under the Investment Law No. 25 of 2007 and the broader regulatory framework administered by BKPM (Indonesia Investment Authority). Partners engaged in cross-border transactions are additionally expected to observe the laws of their own jurisdiction.

The platform does not accept compensation in exchange for preferential listing placement, editorial endorsement, or featured positioning within the B2B directory. All listings are assessed on merit.

III. Content and Editorial Policy

The editorial voice of Indonesia Archipelago draws from the traditions of serious geographic and economic journalism — precise, layered, and genuinely informative. The platform's three primary audiences are travelers seeking depth beyond the itinerary, researchers requiring reliable contextual data, and investors conducting substantive due diligence on Indonesia's provinces and sectors.

All published content is subject to an internal review process before publication. Articles, provincial profiles, heritage entries, and destination features are drafted against a standard that prioritizes factual accuracy, appropriate sourcing, and narrative clarity. Population figures cited in provincial profiles are anchored to official Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) data and are updated to reflect mid-year estimates as new releases become available.

Where statistical data is drawn from external sources, those sources are identified within the text. The platform does not present projections or estimates as established facts, and distinguishes clearly between institutional findings and editorial interpretation.

Sponsored content, where it appears, is labeled explicitly. Indonesia Archipelago does not permit advertorial material to be presented in the same format as editorial content. The integrity of the platform's information environment is not negotiable on commercial grounds.

The platform's geographic scope is defined by the 38 provinces of the Republic of Indonesia as recognized under current administrative law. Any future territorial reorganization formally enacted by the Indonesian government will be reflected in subsequent content updates.

IV. Regulatory Compliance

Indonesia Archipelago operates under a multi-jurisdictional compliance framework reflecting both its Indonesian registration and the international reach of its audience and hosting infrastructure.

Indonesian Law — Personal Data Protection

The platform's data handling practices are governed by Law No. 27 of 2022 on Personal Data Protection (UU PDP), which came into force on 17 October 2022. This legislation establishes the rights of Indonesian data subjects and defines the obligations of data controllers and processors. Indonesia Archipelago has designated a responsible administrator as its Data Controller in accordance with the provisions of this law. The full scope of the platform's data processing activities, including collection methods, retention periods, and user rights, is set out in the Privacy Policy.

Tourism Regulatory Framework

As a platform that actively promotes Indonesian tourism destinations and facilitates travel-related information exchange, Indonesia Archipelago acknowledges the regulatory authority of Law No. 18 of 2025 on Tourism — the Third Amendment to Law No. 10 of 2009 — which formally restructured Indonesia's national tourism governance framework around ecosystem-based development and sustainability principles. The platform's editorial approach to destination coverage is consistent with these legislative objectives.

European Union — GDPR

Visitors accessing this platform from within the European Economic Area are afforded the protections established under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, Regulation 2016/679). The platform's hosting infrastructure operates within an EU data zone, which aligns its technical architecture with GDPR Tier 1 obligations. Specific GDPR rights — including the right of access, rectification, erasure, and data portability — are addressed in full within the Privacy Policy.

United States — CCPA

California residents interacting with this platform are entitled to the protections provided under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). These include the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to request deletion, and the right to opt out of any sale of personal information. Indonesia Archipelago does not sell personal data. Further detail on CCPA-specific rights is contained within the Privacy Policy.
