Shack 58
is situated on the NW coast of the magical island of
Gili Meno, Indonesia. The Gili Islands are an
archipelago of 3 small islands with powdery white
beaches and idyllic turquoise water, just off the
coast of Lombok, Indonesia.
The 3 islands are made up with Gili Meno in the
middle and Gili Trawangan and Gili Air on either
side about 1km to either island by boat.
Shack 58 is a simple getaway - an escape for
honeymooners or the person who just wants to get
away from it all.
Shack 58, is on the waters edge of Gili Meno, this
island is about 1km X 2km with no motorised
transport - There is a friendly local community of
about 450 people.
The Island is about simplicity - so if you are
searching for peace and quiet - where time literally
stands still - you will know you have found
paradise.
Shack 58,
GIli Meno, Indonesia - located directly on the
beach
with the ocean metres away only accommodates 2
people. This cottage was set up with the vision of
enjoying being outside.
There is only one internal room - the Main bedroom
with a Kingsize bed and large daybed, this room is
airconditioned and also has ceiling fans. All the
living areas are outside gazebos. The main area is a
6m X 8.5m gazebo with a large kingsize daybed, day
benches and a large dining table. There is an
additional 4m x 4m gazebo to relax on and a 2mx2m
gazebo on the beach. Both the larger gazebos have
ceiling fans.

ur
bathrooms are simple and made of bamboo. One is an
open air shower under the stars and one is enclosed
under a gazebo. Both bathrooms have fresh water. The
main bathroom is set up with two water systems - one
fresh water and one with well water. All water is
bought to the property by small fishing boat from
Lombok - in the unlikely event the water cannot
timeously be delivered the guest will need to use
the well water. The delays can be due to the tides
being to low and the delivery boat not being able to
get over the reef or the seas being too rough.
Please water is too be used sparingly!
Our Kitchen offers a small simple menu of local
dishes. A basic Indonesian breakfast is included in
the room rate and our drinks at the property works
on an honesty bar.
There is a Television & DVD player with a selection
of DVDs in the library which can be used by the
guests - there is no television reception at
Shack58.
Ele
ctricity
has been on the island for the last 4 years. There
is a main generator on the island - service is
occassionally interrupted and when the power goes
out IT GOES OUT...when the island is very busy
sometimes the Island generator cannot cope with the
spike of usage....one of the joys of being on a
remote island with beachpaths and no transportation.
We do not have an emergency generator on the
property - and make no apologies if the power goes
out...this is all part of island life.... If your
holiday is booked and it is to revolve around fresh
water & power please do not think about making a
booking on any of the 3 islands as services are not
guaranteed...Gili Meno is very much grass roots with
very little development......this will not be you
type of holiday...embrace simplicity as there are
few places in this world that are easy to
access...where you can still have have a remote
experience with out being too remote and that are
still pretty basic.

Pondok Santai - located on the
NE coast next to Lami’s. This place features bambbo shacks,
no electricity and traditional mandi bath.
Pondok Meno
- located just south of Pondok Santai, no electricity, basic
stlye bungalow a bit back from the beach in a garden. Cold
water mandi. No electricity.
Fantastic Cottages
- located inland, just south of the Gili Meno Bird Park, the
cottages are a couple of basic bamboo places, with large
porch, cold water mandi
Royal Reef Resort
- located on the beach on the eastern side of the island.
Typical bamboo place with thatch roof, fan, cold water,
power in evening.
Kontiki Cottages
- located on the southern end of the island, combo of bamboo
rooms and more expensive tiled rooms. Fan, cold water,
electricity.
Bounty Resort - located on the
west side of the island, complete with its own jetty. The
Bounty catamaran stops here. Good rooms, AC, cold water,
pool.
